Open fascia doors. This has the effect that a number of measuring channels related to the RHCA are no longer kept in a reset state!
Now look for an offset: Item 434 & Item 435. (234 235)
Disconnect connector LL and KK RHCA and use an AVO meter to measure the resistance of the slits. Resistance must be (very) high.
High radiation flux damages the insulation of the slit cables. This will eventually lead to insulation problems. Insulation becomes brittle and breaks of when the cables are moved.
Watch out when soldering on the Flight Tube: only Tarzan solders the cables without pressurising the vacuum system.
During adjustments (extensive measurements) it is possible to overheat the slits themselves. Notice that it happens that in such a situation the connecting wire between the slit and the glass feed-through can get broken! Result: no more slit signals! And this is very hard to repair!!! In other words: order a new Flight Tube!
For possibly the same reason it happens that the vacuum seal of the feed-through gets leaky: you can try to fix that with some special vacuum spray sealant: has to be repeated about once a year, but saves a lot of money!
It is advisable to run the linac on a PRF of 200 when extensive measuring or adjusting the Xlow beam.
