Welcome to our Linac FAQ list! We created this list to make a number of tips, hints and tricks, gathered over the last 20 years, available for other Linac Engineers over the world. Although it is mainly meant for Elekta users, users of other brands might eventually find interesting things in it. It was not our purpose to eliminate the Elekta manuals. We will never be able to live without them! But there are a number of tips and tricks that can increase the value and usefulness of the original Manuals. This web page can in some way be compared with the "Internet linac Engineer Discussion group" running on the net. We see this FAQ list as a source of ideas, tips, hints, explanations, possible answers, in short as a Help for those colleagues having a stubborn machine that simply refuses to do its work: a colleague 'in the field' who could offer a helping hand. We hope this web page can act as a digital colleague available 24 hours a day.

This list is a compilation of hints, tricks, ideas and comments on the Elekta SL series linear accelerator. I have done my best to make this list as complete as possible, to be at help to any colleague in need. I like to state that this list is absolute not a collection of complaints on the design of the linac or the service of Elekta in general. I say I am impressed of the concept of the SL25 and I think it is the most sophisticated machine available. Now don't be surprised that even such a complicated machine needs service and eventually breaks down even now and then. This is the twilight zone where we linac lovers earn our living. Be realistic, the perfect linac will never be built.
