Sara Hackett graduated with honours in Physics at the University of Western Australia in 2003. She worked as a PhD student in the School of Physics at the University of Western Australia from January 2004 to August 2007, studying the magnetic properties of iron oxide particles. She was awarded a PhD with distinction in January 2008 for her thesis entitled’ Magneto-chemical speciation of pathogenic iron deposits in thalassaemia and malaria’. From September 2007 until February 2010 she worked as a trainee medical physicist in Radiotherapy at Royal Perth Hospital, and completed an MSc in Medical Physics with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. She then worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Universite Catholique de Louvain in Belgium and at the University of Oxford. She started working at UMC Utrecht in January 2015, focusing on clinical implementation of the MR Linac. In December 2018 she registered with the NVKF as a medical physicist specializing in Radiotherapy.
